New Zealand is a beautiful country with stunning landscapes. There are so many attractions and the nation brings in a significant amount of visitors from all over the world each year. Of course there are the popular things to do that are fan favorites amongst tourists; however, there are also many hidden gems that are just as, if not, more interesting to see. Below we will take a look at some of the best ‘off the beaten path’ locations New Zealand has to offer, as featured in an article on The Roaming Renegades.

  1. Orokawa Bay - Coromandel

This picturesque location is breathtaking and very serene. It consists of a white sand beach that is virtually removed from the rest of the world. There are no signs of civilization inside the bay, but the land is plush with natural bushes. You can reach this destination by taking a hike that lasts around an hour. It is located near Waihi Beach in the Northern Island on Coromandel Peninsula, so there are a ton of amazing coastal views.

  1. Blue Pools - Southland

The name of this next location pretty much describes exactly what you will see when you arrive. If you are interested in crystal clear, bright blue pools of water, you will absolutely love the Blue Pools of Southland. These pools are located along the Haast Pass near Makarora. Reaching this destination is quite simple, as you are only required to take a quick 20 minute walk through native bush which is also fascinating within itself. Most people sit and observe the pools from the swing bridge on the shore, as the water is icy cold throughout the entire year.

  1. Paradise - Glenorchy Queenstown

Lord of The Rings fans will be obsessed with this next spot, as many of the scenes of the movie were actually filmed right in this location within the Mt Aspiring National Park. This is just about 40 minutes away from the small town of Glenorchy, but you won’t find cafes, shops, and bustling city views here. This town is full of natural beauty and panoramic views of stars, sunsets and more. Also, one of the best parts about visiting this location is that there are no entrance fees!
